Reconstructing a Teens-Era Corset
- Details
- Written by Jennifer Thompson
Jennifer shows us an intuitive way to take a pattern from an existing corset. Includes pattern & shopping list for a simple, authentic 1910s corset.
Off the top of my head those pattern pieces remind me of ones from Le Livret de la corsetière (pub. 1933).
This book was published in full on Wiki, but when I look at

I am not getting the links (and pictures) I'm expecting. Not sure if I'm looking on the wrong page or the pages have been taken down.
I've located an online copy of http://www.haabet.dk/Le_Livret_De_La_Corsetiere/
In the http://www.haabet.dk/Le_Livret_De_La_Corsetiere/51.html, there's a very similar corset

I'm not sure what the difference between baleine and ressort is-- my French is nonexistent. Perhaps spiral boning rather than spring steel?
On the other hand, spiral boning may be an anachronism, for a teens era corset-- remember, Le Livret was published 15--20 later.
