Dragon Corset

1912-fr-improverThis corset is based on the pattern in Norah Waugh's Corsets and Crinolines for the 1911 corset. The corset is very lightly boned with spiral steels and is constructed using two layers of coutil - an outer layer of white satin coutil and an inner layer of herringbone coutil. The dragons are hand embroidered in black cotton embroidery floss.

This was my first attempt at several techniques including applying an embroidered section and creating a corset with gores. As such, if I were to make it again I think I would try some different construction methods - but that's what learning is all about!

Aw, those dragons are very cool! Very interesting the way the embroidered panels have been hand-stitched down with the seamlines matching up, clever work :-)

The black and white contrast is really sharp looking! And the embroidery idea is awesome. Great work!

I love your dragons! Your embroidery is spot on and the shape of the dragons really compliments the shaping of the corset.
